The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has reaffirmed that
sustained collaboration with relevant stakeholders remains pivotal to securing
Nigeria’s maritime environment. He made this assertion while receiving the
Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of New Guard Security &
Consultancy Services Limited (NGSCL), Major General Jamil Sarham (Rtd),
during a courtesy visit to Naval Headquarters, Abuja.
During the engagement, the NGSCL CEO highlighted the company’s mandate
as a coordinating interface between government security agencies and Private Security Companies (PSCs), aimed at standardising operations, enhancing regulatory compliance, and fostering synergy across the security architecture.
He further disclosed that the company has established a Project Management
Office and commenced full operations, noting that ongoing engagements have
significantly reduced operational frictions between PSCs and the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He commended the Nigerian Navy’s professionalism and sustained operations against crude oil theft, which have contributed to improved oil production and strengthened national economic stability.
In his remarks, the CNS welcomed the initiative and underscored the
importance of institutionalised collaboration in addressing evolving maritime security challenges. He noted that previous areas of friction with PSCs have been considerably minimised and assured NGSCL of the Nigerian Navy’s
