Distinguished Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to this inaugural meeting of the newly appointed Chairmen of NACCIMA Committees and Trade Groups. I am delighted to see such a distinguished assembly of leaders who have accepted the responsibility to serve our Association and, by extension, the Nigerian private sector.

Let me begin by congratulating each of you on your appointment. Your selection was not accidental. It reflects the confidence reposed in your experience, expertise, and commitment to advancing enterprise development in Nigeria. Today marks the beginning of a renewed phase of engagement, leadership, and service within NACCIMA.

This meeting is significant, not just because it is inaugural, but because of the moment in which it is taking place. Nigeria’s business environment is undergoing profound transitions economic reforms, regulatory adjustments, regional trade opportunities under AfCFTA, technological shifts, and growing expectations for sustainability and inclusion. In this context, NACCIMA’s Committees and Trade Groups are not peripheral structures; they are central to how we engage policy, support our members, and shape outcomes.

Our Committees are the engine rooms for policy advocacy, research, standards, trade facilitation, and institutional strengthening. Our Trade Groups are the bridges between sector-specific realities and national decision-making. Together, they form the backbone of NACCIMA’s relevance and effectiveness.

As Chairmen, you are expected to provide leadership that is proactive, collaborative, and impact-driven. This means moving beyond meetings for meetings’ sake, and focusing on clear priorities, actionable recommendations, and measurable results. It means engaging government constructively, listening to our members attentively, and ensuring that NACCIMA’s voice remains credible, unified, and influential.

I want to emphasise that you are not working in isolation. The National Secretariat stands ready to support your work, and the National Executive Council will continue to provide strategic guidance. However, the success of each Committee and Trade Group will largely depend on your ability to mobilise expertise, foster teamwork, and translate ideas into outcomes that our members can feel.
This inaugural meeting provides an opportunity for alignment on expectations, on roles, and on the collective direction we want to take. It is also an opportunity for shared ownership. NACCIMA’s strength has always come from the active participation of its leadership across sectors and regions.

As we proceed with today’s discussions, I encourage open engagement, practical thinking, and a clear focus on how each Committee and Trade Group will add value in the months ahead. Let us be guided by purpose, responsibility, and a shared commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s private sector as a driver of growth, jobs, and national development.

Once again, I congratulate you all and thank you for your willingness to serve. I wish this meeting fruitful deliberations and look forward to the impact your leadership will deliver.
