Dr Okey Omeh Becomes Caretaker Committee Chairman, as NBA Creates Nike Branch

The creation of the Nike Branch by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has produced an erudite legal practitioner and the Faculty Head of Maduka University, Dr Geoffrey Okechukwu Omeh as Caretaker Committee Chairman of the NBA Nike Branch.

A notice signed by the NBA Executive members led by the President, Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, reads in full below.

“NOTICE OF NEC APPROVAL FOR THE CREATION OF NIKE
BRANCH AND APPOINTMENT OF CARETAKER COMMITTEE
November 24, 2025
To: All Members of the Nigerian Bar Association
Subject: Creation of Nike Branch and Appointment of Caretaker Committee
Pursuant to the provisions of the NBA Constitution, the National Executive
Council approved, at its quarterly meeting held on 20 November 2025 in Benin,
Edo State, the creation of the Nike Branch of the NBA.
This approval was granted based on applications endorsed by not fewer than fifty (50) financially up-to-date members and supported by an identifiable judicial
division.

The Nike Branch is established from Enugu Branch and shall encompass the Nike judicial division in Enugu State.
Following NEC approval, the President, after consultation with the leadership of
the new Branch, has approved the appointment of a Caretaker Committee to
oversee the Branch’s affairs pending elections for substantive Branch officers.
The Caretaker Committee shall consist of –
1. Dr. Geoffery Okey Omeh – Chairman
HE RULE OF LAW
2. Dr. Joy Obianuju Nnani- Vice Chairman
3. Mr Stanley Ifeanyi Anike – Secretary
4. Comrade Fabian Ugonna Nwigbo – Treasurer
5. Mrs Njideka Charity Chukwuma – Welfare/Social Secretary
The Caretaker Committee shall:
1. Immediately assume leadership of the Branch, safeguard Branch property
and assets, and arrange for monthly Branch General Meetings.
2. Manage the Branch’s affairs in accordance with the NBA Constitution and directives of NEC.
