Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar has said that the West Africa Economic Summit 2025 is designed to unlock trade and investment opportunities while promoting strategic development and regional cooperation across West Africa.
Tuggar who declared Nigeria’s readiness to host the event at Abuja, announced this during a media parley today. He disclosed that preparations for the high-profile regional event are in full swing.
“We’re not just talking about ECOWAS and ECOWAS states,” the minister said, “but indeed all states, businesses, private sector players, and development finance institutions that operate within the West African region.”
He emphasized that sustainable development, peace, and prosperity in West Africa can best be achieved through enhanced regional cooperation and economic integration.
Tuggar further stated that the summit’s objectives align closely with the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), particularly in promoting intra-African trade through stronger regional economic ties.
The 2025 WAES will feature a wide range of activities, including a “deal room” for high-level business negotiations, conferences, and cultural exhibitions showcasing the region’s diverse heritage.
“With this unique approach and a strong focus on private sector participation, the summit has the potential to unlock new opportunities for growth and development across the region,” Tuggar said.
The upcoming summit is expected to draw policymakers, investors, development partners, and business leaders from across the continent and beyond.
