New Era Begins at Federal Ministry of Labour as Honourable Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi Assumes Office

Abuja, November 5, 2024 – In a ceremony held at the Minister’s Conference Room, Federal Secretariat, Phase 1, Honourable Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi officially took the reins as the Minister of Labour and Employment.

Dingyadi inherits the oldest ministry in the country, with a vast mandate encompassing employment generation, labour standards, productivity measurement, and social security, among others. The ministry boasts over 4,000 staff across 36 states, six geopolitical zones, and international offices.

The Honourable Minister of State, Honorable Nkeiru Onyejocha, highlighted the ministry’s key priorities, including its commitment to the administration’s eight-point agenda and the Labour Employment Empowerment Programme (LEEP), aimed at creating 25 million jobs for women and youths.

Dingyadi’s tenure promises a continued peaceful labour environment, built on successful negotiations for a new minimum wage and strong international partnerships, particularly with the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

The new Minister who came to the event with his close allies urges staff to play by the rules of Civil Service in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

As Dingyadi begins his journey, he looks forward to briefings from various departments and agencies, paving the way for a productive and impactful tenure.
