AFRIDU To Hold international Homecoming For African Diaspora

The African Diaspora Union (AFRIDU), is hosting a historic International Gathering in Honour of the Africans in Diaspora 6th Region, also known as the Homecoming Event, from October 18-27, 2024, in Abuja, Nigeria. This momentous occasion aims to unite Africans from around the world, particularly those whose ancestors were forcibly taken from their homeland through the transatlantic slave trade.
The event is a collaborative effort between AFRIDU and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and will feature several key activities, including:
– The Launching of the African Twelve Apostles/Liberators Book: A ceremony to honor the families of African liberators and leaders who fought for independence.
– Global African Economic Investment Summit: An opportunity for African descendants to invest in Nigeria and promote economic development.
– Badagry Door of Return Festival: A poignant event to acknowledge the painful history of slavery and the point of exit from Badagry to the unknown.
– Chieftaincy Title Ceremony: Honoring deserving African descendants with traditional Nigerian titles to promote cultural exchange.
Nigeria’s President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will declare the opening session at the Presidential Banquet Hall on October 21, 2024. This gathering is a significant step towards recognizing the African diaspora’s contributions and fostering unity among Africans worldwide.
