CNG Vehicle Conversion: Labour & Employment Ministry Moves collaborate to train Technicians

To boost the transportation and go green at reduced cost of operations,  the Ministry Of Labour And Employment on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Presidential Initiative On Compressed Natural Gas (PCNGI) And The National Institute Of Transport Technology (NITT).

The agreement focuses on the training of Technicians for converting Petrol And Diesel Vehicles To CNG-Powered Vehicles, As Well As Their Repairs And Maintenance.

The training is expected to roll out technicians  to cover 1,000 conversion centres to achieve the President’s goal of a million conversions by year 2027. And these 1,000 conversion centres.  With an average of five technicians each, it would translate that we need to train 5,000 technicians.

But beyond these 5,000 technicians is the fact that support staff will needed so  Business development staff, sales team, managers non regular staff will also be needed to boost employment.

We need sales team. These folks need to be trained in the art of auto gas conversion. And that’s the reason why we are also partnering with another national institution, the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology.

Recall that NITT keyed into the Autogas project a long time ago and with the present administration’s efforts to change from fossil fuel to cleaner fuels, it will be easier to key into the projects and programs of PCNGI.

PCNGI has also recognized NITT’s efforts and is willing ready to give support as a worthy partner, with its CNG conversion centres spread across the country.

The obviously exited Labour Minister and Employment, Hon Nkeiruka Onyejeocha received the partnership with great applause as it is in line the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
