CG AUDI reaffirms commitment to SSI, trains Personnel on Security and Civil Protection Techniques

As part of his determination to ensure the safety of Students, Teachers and learning environment across the nation; the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi has reaffirmed the Corps commitment to overall protection and safety in the educational sector. The Safe Schools Initiative (SSI).
Dr Audi said in achieving this herculean task, it has become very imperative for the Officers and men to acquire the relevant skills and knowledge to enhance effective service delivery.
“Let me reaffirm and state unequivocally that Personnel training and manpower development is a prerogative in actualizing the fundamental objectives and directive principles of the policies of government as well as the statutory mandate of providing safety and security for Nigerian citizens”.
The CG assertion informed the training recently organized by the National Safe School and Response Centre headed by Commandant Hammed Abodunrin PhD who charged the trainees to seize the opportunity of the 1-day Safe School Workshop to upscale their skills and be better informed to tackle emerging challenges in their respective jurisdiction.
The Commandant General who was represented by Commandant Akenimo Peter said that the Corp has been saddled with the responsibility to take charge and bring out policies to protect the critical national assets and infrastructure of the nation.
He relayed that the protection of the School’s Infrastructures, assets, teachers, students and the entire learning environment are very vital and is embedded in the operational agenda of the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre.
The CG said the Corps is fully prepared to train over 2000 personnel nationwide that will cascade to others the acquired skills in the protection of schools and students across the board.
He further advised the participants to take advantage of the training adding that all the officers involved will be posted to various outposts to tackle the menace of insecurity in schools.
In a welcome remark, the Commander, Safe School stated that the workshop is as a result of the Commandant General’s commitment to ensure a safe environment in the FCT and for the children to learn in schools without any iota of fear or threats.
He further encouraged the participants to pay rapt attention and work collectively as Corps’ ambassadors who in adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures of the Corps would protect and safeguard the well-being of school children all over the nation.
