Former Minister of Information, Prof Jerry Gana has said that to attain 59 years in marriage could only be the work of Almighty God saying that he is a fulfilled man having been married for 50 years.

Gana stated this during the thanksgiving ceremony organized to commemorate the important milestone of their lives. Gana was joined on the special day by his children, other family Members, friends and well wishers at the event which started from the Anglican Church Maitama with a thanksgiving service.

Reminiscing on how they started the holy matrimony, he said he was full of smiles and happiness to have married the right woman.

Gana said: “it is all about thanksgiving to God for being married for such a long time and remaining fulfilled.”

The former Minister said his wife, Lucy, had stood besides him in rough and sweet times.

“She is so patient, gentle, and kind, so forgiving, so nice. She is the best wife in the world.

“She has the quality of being a true wife and mother. She is very caring, thoughtful and gentle. If she had not been forgiving me, this marriage would have been ruined long ago,” he said.

One very important take home from the ceremony was the attestation to the wife’s love to Gana’s immediate workers and associates. They all attested to her character and described her as a good wife and a mother.

According to them, her kitchen is always open to all and sundry. They said one cannot visit Gana without being taken care of by the wife with a good meal. No wonder, they were all at hand to grace the occasion, thanks to mummy’s love.

Gana was full of praises for the wife saying that: “Apart from being a good mother, she is also a prayer warrior. She stood by me and prayed for me while in office so that I will not make any mistakes but succeed.”

Speaking of the couple, the former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon said: “They have shown a tremendous belief in each other for us all to learn and emulate.”

Also, speaking to journalists at the event, the President of the National Institute of Public Relations, Dr. Ike Neliaku, described their marriage as successful and blessed with God fearing children.

He said one of the factors that stand the test of time in marriage is for couples to marry their friends.

Speaking on their lives that is rooted in Jesus Christ overflowing with thankfulness, the officiating Minister, Rev Olusola Adekaja described Jerry Gana and wife as a couple with enviable Christian homes that’s worthy of emulation.

Giving an insight into the place of God in their marriage, Rev Adekaja said the couple are very spiritual and have a strong spiritual relationship firmly rooted in Christ.

“They have total commitment to the word of God, and they are always seen everywhere together,” he added.

The marriage is blessed with four children, amongst them is Hon.Joshua Gana, a member of the House of Representatives.
