Initiate ideas for the protection of CNAI, Interior Minister urges NSCDC, decorates three DCGs

Minister of Interior, Honourable Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has decorated three newly promoted Deputy Commandants General (DCGs) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), with their new ranks, calling on them to be loyal, disciplined and initiate ideas for the protection of critical national assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
The Minister who made the call at the decoration ceremony of the trio held in the Aisha Rufai Conference Room, located at the Civil Defence, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) was accompanied by the Board Secretary Jafaru Ahmed, Director Supervising Permanent Secretary’s Office Peter Ogbodo and Commandant General of the NSCDC Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni OFR.
He also called on the new DCGs to serve as building bricks and foundations of the nation, stressing that the ministry cannot achieve any meaningful development alone without their support.
To whom much is given, much is expected. The Board is doing everything possible to ensure that the service (NSCDC) does not remain the same or as a leftover, the minister said.
He continued, “We are doing everything to uplift the service by increased welfare. We believe in an encouraged and motivated workforce. NSCDC is not structured at Sauka but should be structured in your minds.”
Further, he assured that the dark days of stagnation suffered by personnel of the Corps are over and promised, “We want to give to you what we want you to in turn give to Nigerians.”
According to him, it is the right of personnel to be promoted and not a privilege reiterating never again to allow the career progression of personnel to be stagnated.
The Minister continued by cautioning against disloyalty, insubordination and indiscipline in service warning that such acts will not be condoned again with effect from next January.
This administration upon confirmation of acts of indiscipline will sanction such unfailingly and cited lobbying for appointment as head of agency an offence by Public Service Rule which he directed the Board Secretary to issue a circular on it, and promised to implement the sanction as prescribed.
For the minister, the Corps must focus on service delivery especially on its role in Internal security, stressing that Nigerians need security more than ever as he lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for all the support given to his ministry.
Earlier in a remark, the Director Supervising office of the Permanent Secretary, Mr Peter Ogbodo, said NSCDC has a lot of duties to discharge towards internal security and called on the DCGs to strive harder in accomplishing the tasks ahead.
Describing promotion as a recognition of hard work and a call to duty for more hard work, the Director tasked the new DCGs to mentor their subordinates as they carry out their to avoid having gaps.
He appreciated the minister for his effective representation of the Ministry of Interior attributing the unprecedented feats attained especially in the history of promotion in the board to his innovations and hard work.
Another major highlight of the event was the symbolic decoration of the three Deputy Commandants General Shem Obafaiye Sunday, Fasiu Adeyinka and Ibrahim Raji by the Ministry of Interior assisted by their family members.
