Her name is Elizabeth Benson popularly known as Liz Benson, a veteran Nigerian actress, evangelist, philanthropist and television personality.

Liz Benson was born on April 5, 1966 in Etinan, Akwa Ibom State in the south southern part of Nigeria. She is currently 57 years old.

She completed her primary and secondary school education in Akwa Ibom State where she obtained both her First School Leaving certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.

After completing her secondary school education, Liz Benson proceeded to Sylvania State College in the United States of America and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Arts.

Liz Benson started her acting career at the age of 5. While still in secondary school she was actively involved in drama, stage play and performing arts.

In 1993, she joined the Nigerian movie industry professionally and featured in a television soap opera titled “Fortunes”, where she played the role of Mrs. Agnes Johnson.

In 1994, she rose to fame after starring in the movie “Glamour Girls”, starring alongside Ngozi Ezeonu, Eucharia Anunobi, Zack Orji, Pat Attah and Ernest Obi.

Liz Benson is often regarded as the mummy of Nollywood. She has been in the industry for 30 years now. She is always known for playing the role of a good mother, royal queen, mother in-law and house wife in several Nollywood movies.

She is very careful when chosen movie scripts, so as not to tarnish her good image. She is one of those Nollywood actresses that are scandal free. She has never played any adult or nude scene in movie and this has earned her so much respect and prestige among fans and colleagues. She is an inspiration to many upcoming Nollywood actresses looking to achieve similar longevity in Nigeria’s movie industry.

Liz Benson is one of the most gifted, most skillful, most creative and most talented actresses in Nigeria. She has the ability to interpret her roles very well and can fit in any character given to her by movie directors.

She has acted alongside with Nigerian actors and actresses like Zack Orji, Ngozi Ezeonu, Patience Ozokwo, Pat Attah, Kenneth Okonkwo, Ini Edo, amongst others.

She is known for for Glamour Girls (1994), Back to Life (1997), Last Warning (2002), World Apart (2004), Women in Power (2005), Children of Mud (2017) and Lotanna (2017).

Liz Benson lost her first husband, Late Mr. Samuel Gabriel Etim while around her mid-twenties. She had three children with him before his demised. Their names are Lilian Etim, Richard Etim and Roseline Etim. She said that she actually gained strength from his character and that made her able to carry on with her children through the loss.

In 2009, she took another shot at marriage after her conversion. She got married to Bishop Great Ameye of Freedom Family Assembly at the Rainbow Christian Assembly in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.

Liz Benson and her husband are deeply involved in a Christian Evangelical Ministry. While Liz Benson is an evangelist, her husband, Great Ameye, is a pastor. They are currently living in Delta State.
