The First Lady of Cross River State, Rev. Eyoanwan Otu has added another feather to her already decorated cap as she was presented with the Key to the City of New York for her life of service to Humanity.

The prestigious key was given to her by the Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams during the week.

The Key, which is only presented to deserving recipients and global change makers is the traditional symbol of highest recognition in the City Council.

In a week filled with outstanding recognitions, she was honoured by Sen.Kelvin S. Parker on behalf of the New York Senate for her tireless commitment to bettering the lives of People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs). He noted that it is the belief of the legislative body that when individuals accomplish such noble deeds like Rev Otu’s, and their aims and accomplishments are brought to the attention of the US Senate, it is right to publicly proclaim and commend those individuals for the edification and emulation of others.

Elsewhere, a Proclamation of Honor was also presented to Rev Otu by the United States House of Representatives through Congresswoman, Yvette D. Clarke, for her many contributions and positive impacts in the global community.

Her Excellency, who was represented by the Special Adviser, Programs Projects and Events, Dr. Inyang Asibong, lauded the organizers for the colorful event and added that the greatest motivation to do more, was the recognition of hard work.

In a related development, the United States President, Joe R. Biden, presented the 2023 Joe Biden Lifetime Achievement Award to Amb. (Dr.) Arit Fuller, the convener of the program, for her outstanding humanitarian qualities through the years.

The awards ceremony was the highlight of the gala, which also featured a cocktail reception, dinner, and dancing. The event was attended by over 300 people, including dignitaries from the United States, West Africa and the Caribbean.
