Republic of Indonesia donates Doses of Pentavalent Vaccine to Nigeria

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Nigeria, AVM Dr. H. USRA Hendra Herahap and other Indonesia representatives had on Friday 16 June, 2023, handed over Doses of pentavalent vaccine to the Executive Director of National Primary Health Care Development Agency at their headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Ambassador, Dr USRA Hendra Herahap used the opportunity of the significant occasion to appreciate Nigeria for accepting the collaborative commitment and diplomatic cooperation.

He said a total of seven hundred and thirty thousand doses arrived Nigeria on 30th May 2023 and the total of eight hundred and fifty thousand arrived on the 14th of June 2023 to make a total of one million five hundred and eighty thoudand doses of vaccines to improve the healthcare system and increase immunization coverage for every child in Nigeria to grow up safe and healthy.

Executive Director, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, commended and appreciated the Indonesian government for the gesture and assures that Nigeria will distribute the doses judiciously, to boost healthcare system in the country.

He said that Nigeria is indeed appreciative of the positive impact of the strong and ongoing collaboration existing between Nigeria and Indonesia underpinned by mutual respect that exists between our two countries.

Dr. Shuaib Faisal said, “The vaccines we have received are more than just vials of medicine; they represent hope, protection, and the promise of a brighter future for our children, with this donation, Nigeria is equipped with a powerful tool to strengthen our vaccination program to save lives.

He assured that the Agency will swing into action to reach every Nigerian child irrespective of their background, geographical location and population.

He added that with the polio virus eradication, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency has built higher capacity of its staff and recently  the Federal Government recognized NPHCDA as one of the best agencies in Nigeria so far.
