Head of Corporate Services, National Senior Citizens Centre, Mr Omini Oden has said that it is now promising to be a citizen in Nigeria.
Omini said this during the retirement party and birthday of the immediate past General Manager of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Channel 5 Abuja, Mr Ayo Adewuyi recently.
Omini commended the President Muhammadu Buhari for the establishment of the recalled the achievements of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), in less than one year, under the able leadership of the DG, Dr Emem Omokaro.
He disclosed that a lot has been put in place to ensure that every citizen who attended the age of 60 years would enjoy certain previlages in the country, ranging from social welfare, security and healthcare.
Recall that recently 36 older persons from 18 states across 6 Geo-political Zones benefited from NDE Matured people loan of 500 thousand naira each.
The National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has come together to raise the fortune of older persons in Nigeria. To tap fully from the programs put together by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, the two establishments came to build capacity through the Train the Trainer Workshop on Survey Instrument for Older persons-led intergenerational Indigenous Crafts and Skills Assessment for the Development of Small and Micro enterprises.
Several stakeholders engagements and trainings of staff of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), has been going on since the establishment of NSCC last year, to implement all aspects of the global and national policies.
