AVIATION WORKERS WEEK: Automated System In Focus As PS Enitan, Hector, Others Harp On Advantages

The 9th Edition of the Aviation Workers’ Week and Award Night held on 3rd March, 2022 at Abuja with the theme, ” The Gains of an Automated Personal Management System in the Aviation Sector”.

Delivering his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan said that considering the critical roles the Aviation Industry play in the nation’s economy vis-a-vis the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), adopting the Automation culture in our daily lives has become totally indispensable.

In line with the theme of this year’s event, Enitan it is apt as automation process, by every standard, has become the norm in contemporary world of business and governance.

“Government’s recent stance on the need for a paperless work system and the launching of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, all lend credence to the seriousness attached to issues of computerization, digitalization and automation. The Ministry, in conjunction with the Unions has taken the initiative to engage and sensitize all stakeholders in the 6 Geo-Political Zones on this paradigm shiff. The results responses and reactions received from participants were quite overwhelming”, he stated.

He commended the organisers of the event for the the chosen theme and expressed hope that deliberations among the team of professionals will bring to the fore the necessity to key into the automation system with a view to moving the Aviation Industry forward.

Earlier speaking,The Chairman of Joint Consultative and Negotiation Council, Comrade (JCNC), Hector Nnadi explained that with the level of technology around the globe, the aviation sector can not afford to be left behind in the quest to reposition it with adequate automation of all points.

Nnadi said, the gains of an automated system in the aviation industry can not be undermined because the issue of digitalization remained a global thing.

“We have, overtime, realized the countless potentialities of the Automation System in driving the various Sectors of any nation’s economy. This trend has been in currency for some decades with countries moving further to other areas of digitization. The quantum leap as experienced in most advanced countries of the world through adoption of Automation is a visible testimony,” he said

As part of JCNC’s mandates, they in conjunction with Management, have been able to traverse the 6 Geo-Political Zones to sensitize Aviation Workers and stakeholders on the importance and necessity for adoption of an Automated system and processes in our workplace.

“The Unions have resolved to push through the Automation culture through series of activities which, we hope, will lead to total adoption of this concept with a view to attaining the status of global citizens. We have, for this event, been able to assemble a team of experts and professionals to deliberate on the theme and proffer the way forward”, he disclosed

Hector applauded the Honourable Minister and his Management team for tacitly supporting this year’s event.
