FG INAUGURATES BOARD OF RURAL ELECTRIFICATION AGENCY (REA)

The Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy Agba has charged the newly inaugurated Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), to further improve on their efforts toward rural electrification of communities in Nigeria.
He stated this recently at Abuja while inaugurating the Board of REA noting that the Board members were selected based on competence, merit and expertise considering the geo-political requirements.
Agba said the Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is working hard to straighten REA to achieve energy needs of vision 30:30:30 to increase renewable energy to the rural communities across the country, noting that the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), is one of the top performing parastatals under the supervision of the Ministry of Power which has continued to roll out solar off-grid power solutions and grid extension to millions of Nigerians.
The Minister further charged the Board to be steadfast, commitment to duty and to give the Management of REA 100% support.
Delivering his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Nebeolisa Anako explained the composition of the Board as appointment of 7 (Seven) independent members from the six geopolitical Zones of Nigeria, the Managing Director of REA, Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad and 3 ex-officio members who are: Representative of the Federal Ministry of Power (Supervising Ministry), Representative of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Representative of the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE).
Responding, the Chairman of the Board, Abdulazeez Musa Yar’adua appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for bestowing trust in him and the Board members to serve the country.
He assured that the Board would work as a team to achieve the mandate of taking the Power Sector to a greater height through an excellent working-relationship with the Management of the Ministry of Power and the Rural Electrification Agency.
