2.5M LEEP JOB TARGET: Labour Ministry Signs MoU With OSSAP-TVEE

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE) to boost the 2.5 million job target by the ministry’s Labour and Employment Empowerment Programme (LEEP) initiative.
Speaking during the event on Friday in Abuja, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, stated that the partnership is aimed at enhancing employment opportunities and skill development in Nigeria, particularly among the youths and women.
She said the strategic alliance between the Ministry and OSSAP-TVEE would focus on vocational, technical, and entrepreneurial skills critical for economic development and growth.
Hon Onyejeocha noted that the partnership would work to achieve the President’s 8-point agenda on job creation and drive innovation, productivity, and competitiveness in the global market.
“The Ministry is dedicated to providing the necessary assets and infrastructure to support the training and certification of participants in this programme.
“We recognize the importance of a skilled workforce in driving innovation, productivity, and competitiveness in the global market.
“With the support and expertise of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant, we are confident in our ability to achieve these ambitious goals”, she emphasised.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE), Abiola Arogundale noted that the collaboration had the potential of boosting the percentage of highly skilled persons in Nigeria.
She further said that the collaboration would aid the ministry in achieving its mandate of creating opportunities for jobs and generating employment.
